Sambucus nigra canadensis The American elderberry is a treasured native of central and eastern US. This easy-to-grow shrub is strikingly ornamental and offers heavy harvests of delicious berries with nearly endless uses. Our paired collection of 2 compact, prolific varieties, Bob Gordon and York, are ideal for cross-pollinating. Please note: all parts of the plant have been used for centuries for medicinal purposes, but the leaves, stems, roots, and seeds are considered poisonous. We recommend eating only cooked berries.
